That is exactly what Nintendo is doing. Talk about a company that takes advantage of their customers.

Get a custom made one by Rob Dunnart on IG. Way better than the official one coming out.

These mini refreshes are a marketing tactic to bring consumers into the store in hopes they purchased the next best thing, which would be a Switch.

After all the leg work and hunting, I would of just paid the extra from Think Geek to ensure a mini. Considering all the time you wasted running around and constantly checking numerous sites, the $40 extra isn't that bad imo.. It's seems quite reasonable if you consider scalpers are selling the unit upwards of $350 +.

Sounds like one hell of a day for you…. Sucks that you had to go to Game Stop, they horde these "classic" systems for their own employees.

Why are you putting the blame on Nintendo? Do you think they told these retailers when to go live with the pre-orders individually? That's not how this works. They didn't say "Hey Best Buy, go live with the product at 1am." No, Best Buy decided to go live with preorders at that time, Nintendo just let them know how much stock they are getting. The retailers are the ones to blame. These retailers had every chance to tell people "we'll open up pre-orders at 5pm EST on 8/22.. stock is extremely limited." They messed up. This is a highly sought after item. People with the know-how are going to have independent stock tracker alerts running for this & will know when it goes live before the average person does. That's how I preordered mine. The retailers are the ones who need to make the hunt easier. It's a limited stock item, there may be more produced than before (last time they didn't even have pre-orders) but it's still a limited stock/temporary holiday item.. like a Tickle-Me-Elmo. Don't put the blame on Nintendo. You're either misplacing blame or making this dramatic video for the purpose of getting views. Either way you come across as rather misinformed, especially for a "journalist."

This is classic. In the 80s we didn't have instant gratification.

Yeah it's pretty messed up Nintendo won't just make enough to meet the demand when it's there.

Seriously Nintendo? You are basically using a phone mobo with an emulator and have enough space to hold every game in the library twice… there is no excuse why you make so few of them because the Wii sold millions in the first year… they really need to stop making false rare items……

I thought this was releasing in September? damn! I missed it completely. Nintendo does this shit with every console. Sooner or later this will bite them in the ass big time.
